Ave Maria 아베 마리아(Ave Maria)는 로마 카톨릭 교회의 주기도문(파테르 노스테르), 영창(글로리아 파트리), 사도신경(크레도)과 더불어 가장 많이 인용되는 <천사 축사>라 불리는 기도문이다. 예수의 어머니인 성모 마리아를 찬양하는 곡이라 할 수 있는 이 곡은, 시인 들의 자유로운 시에 많은 작곡가들이 곡을 붙였다. 빅토리아, 케루비니, 브람스, 구노, 베르디 등의 작품이 있는데 그 중에서도 슈베르트의 <아베 마리아>가 가장 대중적이며 많이 연주되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 곡들은 전통적인 카톨릭 의식용으로는 알맞지 않다.
